 2023 Preview 


       Monroe Academy completed the 2022 season with a 4-7 record.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Monroe Academy has gone a combined 129-32. Their 80.1% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AAA over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Monroe Academy has finished a combined 216-80. Their 73.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class AAA and 3rd in the AISA.




       The Volunteers are led by head coach Mitchell Tuberville who is entering his eighteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 158-48 over the past seventeen seasons at Monroe Academy. Under his direction the Volunteers have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times. They have won eleven region crowns with Coach Tuberville. Coach Tuberville has won four state championships at Monroe Academy, the last coming in 2018. His 158 wins rank 7th among active coaches in the AISA.

      

       The Volunteers open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Sparta Academy on Friday, August 25 at Volunteer Stadium. Last year the Sparta Academy Warriors finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in fifth place in Class A region two. The Warriors closed out the regular season with a loss to Coosa Valley Academy by a score of 13-12.

       Monroe Academy and Sparta Academy have met a total of 24 times on the football field. The Volunteers have a 18-6-0 record against the Warriors. They last met in 2022 with Monroe Academy winning by a score of 27-0.
